The Bachelor’s Programme in Tourism (BA) at UBT adopts a modern, student-centred approach, where teaching and learning are delivered in accordance with the standards of the European Higher Education Area and contemporary best practices. The educational process is designed to create an interactive, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment in which students are encouraged to develop the knowledge, professional skills, and competencies required by the labour market.
The programme provides a balanced integration of theory and practice, enabling students to apply the knowledge they acquire in real-world tourism and hospitality settings. Teaching methods are carefully selected to foster critical thinking, creativity, analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork, creating an active, outcome-oriented learning experience.
Teaching is delivered through a combination of contemporary instructional methods, including interactive lectures, practical exercises, case studies, individual and group projects, presentations, seminars, academic discussions, independent research, study visits, and professional internships. These methods enable students to connect theoretical knowledge with the real challenges of the tourism and hospitality industries.
To support the teaching and learning process, UBT employs modern educational technologies and e-learning platforms. Moodle serves as the primary platform for distributing learning materials, facilitating communication between academic staff and students, and managing quizzes, assignments, and other academic activities. In addition, the learning process is supported by institutional email, computer laboratories, multimedia projectors, Smart Boards, and professional software such as SPSS, creating an advanced digital environment for teaching, learning, and research.
The effectiveness of teaching is continuously monitored and evaluated through the University’s quality assurance mechanisms. UBT regularly assesses the achievement of learning outcomes, students’ academic performance, student feedback, and the effectiveness of teaching methods, implementing continuous improvements to course content, pedagogical strategies, and assessment methods.
At the beginning of each academic year, orientation sessions are organised for newly enrolled students. During these sessions, students are introduced to the programme learning outcomes, curriculum content, teaching methods, assessment system, academic timetable, and the University’s student support services. Students are also provided with the Student Handbook and have continuous access to the Student Portal, where they can obtain all necessary academic and administrative information throughout their studies.
Through this integrated approach, the Bachelor’s Programme in Tourism creates an academic environment that promotes active learning, professional development, and the preparation of students to meet the challenges of an ever-evolving tourism industry. The programme ensures that graduates acquire the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for successful careers at both the national and international levels.
