Curriculum Structure

The Bachelor’s Programme in Tourism (BA) is organised in accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and comprises 180 ECTS credits distributed across six semesters over three academic years. The programme is designed in compliance with the Kosovo National Qualifications Framework (Level 6) and the Qualifications Framework of the European Higher Education Area, ensuring an academic structure comparable to leading European programmes in the field of tourism.

The programme structure is designed to ensure a balanced integration of theoretical knowledge and the development of practical skills. Approximately 60% of the programme consists of theoretical content, while the remaining 40% focuses on practical learning through case studies, projects, professional internships, study visits, and research activities. This approach enables students to connect academic concepts with real-world situations in the tourism and hospitality industries.

The curriculum is based on the principle of constructive alignment, whereby the learning outcomes, course content, learning activities, and assessment methods are harmonised to ensure the achievement of the programme’s intended competencies. In designing and continuously updating the curriculum, the Kosovo National Qualifications Framework, the European Qualifications Framework, Bloom’s Taxonomy, as well as recommendations from industry representatives and academic partners, have all been taken into consideration.

The programme encompasses a wide range of study areas covering the core aspects of tourism and hospitality, including the fundamentals of business and tourism economics, tourism management and marketing, tourism geography, sustainable tourism, travel agency management, tourism finance and accounting, digitalisation, information technology, and tourism product development. Particular emphasis is also placed on developing digital competencies and applying modern technologies within the tourism and hospitality industries.

Throughout their studies, students progressively develop research skills. During the first two years, the focus is placed on conceptual research and literature analysis, while in the third year students engage in empirical research projects and the preparation of their bachelor’s thesis. The programme encourages students’ participation in projects carried out in collaboration with industry, creating opportunities for the practical application of knowledge and the development of professional competencies.

Through this well-structured curriculum, the Bachelor’s Programme in Tourism provides students with a balanced educational experience that integrates academic knowledge, practical experience, and scientific research, preparing them for successful careers in the tourism, hospitality, and service industries, as well as for continuing their studies at higher levels of higher education.
