For the first time Kosovo accredits the study program Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering and Environment, with relevant specializations:

 

  1. PLANT PRODUCTION

 

The specialist in this field has the ability and competence to analyze and carry out research of the sources and problems of the crop production sector such as: arable crops such as cereals, fruits and vegetables, then industrial crops, bakeries, etc.

In this perspective, a Plant Production specialist in an enterprise observes the production work of cereals, feeders, industrial plants, fruits and vegetables. In the meantime, designs production in the enterprise, makes market analysis for strategic products and orients the enterprise towards the safe market. Despite the fact, a specialist in this field supports, ensures the application of acceptable production standards and helps enterprises to apply good manufacturing practices through the GAP.ISO Standard and HACCP.

Furthermore, provides support for enterprises in the correct application of chemicals in agricultural crops, always avoiding side effects on the environment.  Despite, it also assists enterprises in organizing and producing BIO crops. Moreover, it links the enterprise with other local and international enterprises in order to exchange experiences and finds internal and external market to develop the enterprise.

 

Key skills to be acquired in this profession are as follows:

 

  • Ability and competence to research food waste (pesticides, antibiotics, heavy metals);
  • Skills to analyze food raw materials in organoleptic, chemical, and microbiological terms;
  • Good skills in using technological equipment and software of the MS Office package
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills Good teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Careful attention to detail, especially with regard to raw material production, hygiene and food safety;
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills;
  • Good skills in the use and calibration of motor equipment in Agriculture;

  1. HORTICULTURE

 

The Horticulture Specialist will have full competencies to design and manage in the enterprise the production process of medicinal and aromatic plants, trees, flowers, parks in the private and public sector, gardens, etc.

The Horticulture Specialist has an important role in various sectors, private and public, in the design and management of green projects.  Consequently, the competencies of the horticulture specialist also involve the management of agricultural crops such as trees, medicinal and aromatic plants and mountain fruits.

 

Key skills to be acquired in this profession are as follows:

 

  • Necessary skills in using technological equipment and software of the MS Office package;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills Good teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Careful attention to detail, especially with regard to raw material production, hygiene and food safety;
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills;
  • adequate skills in the use and calibration of motor equipment in Agriculture Agriculture Digitization skills;
  • Ability and Skills in writing projects in Agriculture and Environment whether National or International level;

  1. ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT IN AGRICULTURE

 

Specialists in this field will be able to manage manufacturing enterprises in both the plant and animal sectors in terms of environmental protection.

Among others, one of the required duties it is also that of measuring and assessing the level of pollution in the enterprise from the products they make and is able to manage them. In this respect,  students will primarily focus on their typical geo-systems, characteristics and features, environmental protection mechanisms, ISO standards and environmental management, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Such as air, soil, water pollution and their protection. Meanwhile, the particular attention is primarily on the source of pollution, different mechanisms for environmental protection, their importance and application.

 

Key skills to be acquired in this profession are as follows:

 

  • Necessary skills in using technological equipment and software of the MS Office package;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills Good teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • A particular emphasis on detail, especially with regard to raw material production, hygiene and food safety;
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills;
  • Ability and competence to research food waste (pesticides, antibiotics, heavy metals);
  • Protection of national environmental indicators from agriculture, air, soil, water, protection from waste, biodiversity, spatial planning, etc;
  • Ability to implement the package of National and EU laws related to the environment and Agriculture in general;
  • Ability to raise awareness among producers to environmental protection;
  • On completion of the relevant specializations of this profession will gain sufficient knowledge and practical skills to practice the profession;
