The Master of Science in Public Health and Management has been designed in accordance with contemporary European higher education standards and is organised to ensure clear academic and professional progression throughout the entire period of study. The programme structure has been developed in alignment with the National Qualifications Framework, the European Qualifications Framework, and the principles of the Bologna Process, thereby ensuring transparency, academic mobility, and international recognition of the qualification.
The programme is delivered over two academic years and comprises a total of 120 ECTS credits. The organisation of studies is based on a balanced combination of theoretical content, practical activities, scientific research, and professional engagement. This structure ensures that students acquire not only advanced academic knowledge but also the practical skills required for effective performance within healthcare institutions and organisations operating in the field of public health.
During the first year of study, students focus on developing advanced theoretical and methodological foundations. Core modules include epidemiology, biostatistics, research methodology, healthcare systems management, health policy, health economics, and leadership in the healthcare sector. These courses provide the essential foundations for understanding the complex processes that influence population health and the functioning of healthcare organisations.
In the second year, the programme focuses on more specialised topics and the practical application of acquired knowledge. Students engage in case analyses, research projects, problem-based learning activities, and collaborations with partner institutions. Through these activities, they develop competencies in planning, monitoring, and evaluating public health programmes, as well as managing organisational and strategic processes.
A key component of the programme structure is the integration of scientific research. Students are trained in modern methods of data collection, analysis, and interpretation, preparing them to conduct research projects with a meaningful impact on professional practice and policymaking. This approach strengthens analytical capacities and promotes critical thinking and evidence-based decision-making.
The programme culminates in the completion and defence of a Master’s Thesis, which represents the highest achievement of the academic process. The thesis enables students to demonstrate their ability to identify relevant problems, conduct independent research, and propose scientifically grounded solutions. Research topics address current issues in public health, healthcare management, public policy, epidemiology, healthcare quality, and related fields.
The programme structure is characterised by flexibility, interdisciplinary integration, and a strong orientation toward professional practice. It reflects current labour market demands, the priorities of Kosovo’s healthcare system, and international standards in public health education. Through this structure, the programme provides a comprehensive learning experience that prepares students for leadership, research, and management roles within the healthcare sector and beyond.
