The workshop, whose goal was examining the facilities of importance in the architectonic heritage of Kosovo, was organized as part of the architecture Master programs, involving 12 students from Vienna and eight from the UBT.

During a meeting with Dr. Karoline Jaeger-Klein and the students, UBT Rector Dr. Edmond Hajrizi spoke about the studies and scientific researches carried out at the UBT.  He also spoke highly about the excellent cooperation between the UBT and the Vienna University of Technology and many other prestigious world universities, which is an opportunity for studies and professional development of the UBT students.

The students visited a number of facilities of the interest, including Prishtina’s city center, offices of professional architects, as well as objects constructed with recycled materials.  The students and Professor Karoline Jaeger-Klein, accompanied by Arnisa Kryeziu, Coordinator of the Master programs at the UBT Department of Architecture, visited some of the remaining parts of the old city of Prishtina.  In addition, they visited the Kosovo Council for Cultural Heritage and the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of Kosovo.

During a visit to Prizren, the students toured the old city, the castle, the local hamam, mosques, and other monuments in that city, including a number of bridges on the road to Gjakova.

In Gjakova, they visited the craftsmen street (Carshia e Vjeter) and other sites of interests.  Storehouses were at the focus of the students during the visits to Dranoc, Junik, Isniq, and Decan.  They also went to Peja to visit old parts of the city, the Orthodox Monastery and the Museum of Ethnography.

The students also visited the Gracanica Monastery and they held discussions on the spatial planning in that municipality.  Their next stop was Novoberda where they visited the castle, the traditional mosque, the Dervish’s lodge, and other facilities.  Their last stop was Vushtrri where they visited a bride of the Roman Empire times, the local hamam, and other objects of interest.
