Kohler and Makolli discussed with students of UBT

Prishtina, March 31, 2012  – Mayor of the municipality of Delmont of Jura canton in Switzerland, Mr.. Pierre Kohler, and the Minister of Diaspora in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ibrahim Makolli,  were participants in the debate that was held today at the UBT, entitled “Organization of system of cantons in Switzerland”.

Participants to the debate were also UBT professors, students and other interested people . 

Initially, President of UBT, dr.  Edmond Hajrizi welcomed the guests and informed them with the work and organization of UBT, and thanked them for participating in the debate on UBT, a institute of higher education that has a long tradition in organizing debates from various areas of interest to students and public.

 

Speaking before participants in the debate, Mr.Pierre Kohler has considered the young people in Kosovo and UBT students present at the meeting, the future of the country. He said great words for the state of Kosovo, warning that it is normal to have problems in its development a country that has suffered a terrible war, but over time the country will be developed and reach the high standards and.

 

Mr. Kohler also explained in detail the state organization of Switzerland, which is organized into 23 cantons, which have a large autonomy of the local organization, but always under the federal laws that regulate the organization in all aspects of life.

 

He also added that, besides the organization of it from the federal level until the lowest level, stressed that all leaders are elected by vote of the citizens, all decisions at all levels deal with full consensus, despite the many diversities that qualify Switzerland.

 

Also, he said that all important decisions and matters for the life of citizens are given with the referendum, which is the highest form of democracy and of making a direct decision of the citizens.

 

Mr. Kohler, who is considered a close friend of the Albanians, spoke about the organization and integration of Albanians in all areas of life in Switzerland. He spoke many selected words about the work, organization and contribution of Albanians generally in the Jura canton and in the state of Switzerland in general. Mr. Kohler also says that the Albanian community living in Switzerland is a very good bridge linking the friendship and cooperation between Switzerland and the Republic of Kosovo, a collaboration that is proven and has provided significant results in many areas.

 

The minister of Diaspora in the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr.Ibrahim Makolli, debated for the great contribution that the Swiss state has given and gives continuously for the Kosovo, being one of the first countries that has given visas for Kosovo’s citizens in Pristina , being one of the first states declared that Kosovo should be independent and one of the first countries that recognized the Republic of Kosovo.

 

Mr. Makolli likewise reminded that Switzerland is one of the countries that invested most in Kosovo, and has made its contribution as part of international missions in Kosovo.

 

Mr. Makolli, gave a special emphasis on Kosovo community in Switzerland, which has over 230 thousand citizens. He stressed that this community provides a major contribution to Switzerland, but also for its birthplace, as well as links between the two countries.

 

Minister, Makolli stressed the tendency that the young people from Kosovo to attend and be prepared as academic staff, and stressed that the ministry he leads will give its contribution in this regard.
