Center for Innovation Competence for Modeling and Simulation Inaugurated at UBT

05/06/2014

A center of innovation competence on modeling and simulation was inaugurated today at the UBT.  UBT President, Professor Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, and professors from the Engineering University of Vienna and other partner universities, addressed the participants of the ceremony.  They said the center was of a special importance, describing it as a new concept and a bridge serving the cooperation between the institutions of our country, the region, and wider.

Addressing the participants, which included representatives of the institution of the Republic of Kosovo, international officials, media, UBT professors and students, and other guests, UBT President Edmond Hajrizi said the UBT is a modern and innovative institute in the Republic of Kosovo which offers advantages of the well-known international education institutions because it not only offers high quality programs of studies but now it also has the competence center for modeling and simulation, which supports each faculty in simulation and modeling.

Dr. Hajrizi said this is a special center and from now on through it there can be cooperation with the “UBT STATS” Center which deals with collection, arrangement, and, publication of statistical data.

“The UBT-SIM will provide for the simulation of models, visualization, forecasting, and optimism in decision-making.  These researches will lead to an increase in the publications.  We do not have the costs of the medicines,  the development process of designing the models to give answers to the problems and phenomena in the society today, as is for instance healthcare, we also do not know how he sources are managed because we do not have models,” he said.

Hajrizi noted that mission and the goal was to see centre becoming leading modeling and simulation center in the Western Balkans.

Dr. Felitz Breitencker, professors of the Engineering University of Vienna, Nikki Popa, a representative of the EuroSim, and professors Mentor Geci and Andreas Corner, also spoke in the ceremony.  Murteza Osdautaj, Director of the Department of Science at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, also addressed the event.

UBT SIM was established as a result of the cooperation with the Vienna University of Technology, the Departments of Mathematics, Modeling, and Simulation.
