UBT’s Science, Innovation and Technology Park welcomed academic partners, institutional representatives, tourism sector organizations, and international experts as part of the international meeting of the STM-Tourism – Sustainable Tourism Mastery for VET and Entrepreneurship project, an initiative aimed at developing professional skills and promoting sustainable tourism across the Western Balkans.

The meeting focused on the latest trends in sustainable tourism, the competencies required by the labor market, the digital transformation of the sector, and the role of education in preparing the professionals of the future.

During the open session with stakeholders, participants discussed the needs of the tourism sector in the region, the analysis of skills gaps, and opportunities for developing modern programs that combine innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

In this context, UBT presented its experience in advancing tourism education, having pioneered specialized programs in this field and continuing to integrate the most advanced European practices into its curricula.

Through collaborations with universities and international institutions, including partners from Austria and other European countries with well-developed tourism traditions, UBT is creating new opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experiences aligned with international standards.

Within the framework of the STM-Tourism project, UBT leads key activities related to identifying international best practices and developing modern curriculum frameworks, directly contributing to the preparation of a new generation of professionals capable of addressing the challenges of the tourism industry.

The meeting also served as a platform for the exchange of experiences among universities, chambers of commerce, employment organizations, and public institutions, with the goal of creating a stronger ecosystem for the development of sustainable tourism and entrepreneurship in the region.

Through international projects such as STM-Tourism, UBT continues to strengthen its role as a leader in higher education, innovation, and the development of programs that connect academia with the real needs of the labor market, contributing to the advancement of strategic sectors for the country’s economic and social development.
