Witty can handle various test types (sprint, shuttle, go & back, athlete groups, repetitions, etc.), which are described below.
Tests are divided into the following main types:
Icon | Name | Description |
 | BASIC | Tests for in-line timing of single athletes (one after the other) in laps or circuits (sprint, shuttle, go & back, endurance, etc.). |
BASIC tests are designed for in‑line timing of a single athlete completing laps or fixed circuits, with athletes moving one after another. It supports sprint, shuttle, and go‑and‑back formats and can include optional split points and lap counts. The mode records start and finish with high time resolution and reports lap time, total time, average pace, and rep‑to‑rep consistency. We use BASIC when you need clean, comparable times without interference from other athletes; ideal for endurance intervals, linear speed work, and standardized conditioning tests on track, court, or field. |
 | MULTISTART | Test for timing several athletes (max. 3) simultaneously. |
The MULTISTART measures are designed to time several athletes (up to three) at the same moment on parallel lanes or shared courses, capturing each athlete’s start, splits, and finish independently for fair, head-to-head comparisons. It supports simultaneous or staggered starts, optional intermediate gates for split analysis, and per athlete IDs so results are logged and exported separately (total time, lap times, average pace, best rep, and variability). Ideal for heats, shuttle runs, small group sprints, and change of direction circuits, MULTISTART reduces session time while preserving accuracy, with safeguards against cross lane interference and optional false start flags to keep trials consistent. |
 | COUNTER | Test for timing or counting repeated actions. |
The COUNTER measures how many repetitions an athlete completes and how long each one takes, ideal for tasks with repeated actions such as shuttle touches, jump rope bursts, medicine ball throws, or plyometric hops. It registers each pass or trigger as a rep, logging total reps, total time, average time per rep, best rep, and rep to rep consistency, and can be used to pace intervals by cadence or to enforce work to rest targets. Use COUNTER when you need quick, objective feedback on volume and rhythm without managing individual start and finish lines, especially in stations or circuits where multiple short efforts happen in sequence. |
 | WITTY·SEM | Test for agility and change direction performed with Witty·SEM |
The WITTY·SEM evaluates agility and change of direction using wireless light modules that present visual cues the athlete must react to and chase, turning footwork and turns into decision based tasks. You can program fixed patterns or random cue logic, set distances and gate zones, and require color or number matching to test perception and reaction under pressure. The system records reaction time, time to first move, split times between gates, turn times, total time, accuracy of choices, and error rate, allowing you to compare left versus right turns and detect asymmetries. Ideal for soccer, basketball, handball, tennis, and any sport that demands rapid decisions and sharp movement in small spaces, WITTY·SEM delivers game like agility testing without complicated setups. |
The various options available for each main type are explained below.
