Over 200 Scholars Attend International Conference in Durres

The UBT, in cooperation with the Vlora University, the Tirana University, and other academic institutions, supported by the Vienna University of Technology, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo (MASHT), EUROSIM, “Quality Kosovo”, IPMA Kosova, AEP, and IFAC, have organized a two-day international conference on business, technology, and innovations, in Durres, Albania. The conference started today at he “Blearti” Hotel.


Around 200 participants, including academicians and professionals from different fields, mainly computer sciences and information systems, management, business and economics, mechatronics and robotics, architecture and spatial planning, law, and other fields from the Republic of Kosovo, Albania, and different countries of the world are participating in the conference.


Besides the leaders of the organizing institutions — UBT President Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, Prof. As. Evelina Bazini, Dean of the Faculty of Economics from the Vlora University, and Prof. Dr. Kozeta Sevrani, head of the Department for Mathematics, Statistics, and Applied Informatics, from the Tirana University — senior representatives of the Republic of Kosovo as well as those of universities, companies, and partner institutions of the UBT from Europe and the world are participating at the conference.


Addressing the audience, which included representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, international organizations, media, professors and students of the UBT, and other guests, UBT President Edmond Hajrizi said: “This is the second time we are organizing a conference of this kind.  The idea is to offer opportunities  to the young people to publish their scholarly papers and to be acquainted with the international academic community attending this conference.  Another idea is to improve the regional cooperation together with the University of Vlora and the University of Tirana, with representatives of the management associations and in this respect this conference provides orientations and coordination in different sectors inside the region.”


Prof. Dr. Peter Kopacek from the Vienna University of Technology recalled hat a similar conference was organized in Pristina a year earlier, while now this conference is taking place in beautiful Durres with the presence of international colleagues as well.


“Last year it was an event organized more for a specific intellectual community while today’s event is much broader in terms of the number of the fields that will be treated and number of participants,” he said.


The UBT and the Faculty of Economics of Vlora have reached an agreement on joint master studies.  “We would like to thank UBT President Mr. Hajrizi who invited us to share this conference together with us.  This is the second year and fortunately this is becoming a tradition,” said Vlora University Dean Bazini.


Prof. Dr. Kozeta Sevrani from the Tirana University, said among others: “Through this conference we seek to continue contributing to meeting the needs of academics researchers, lecturers, and professionals, to share thoughts, ideas, experiences, and their papers.”


Prof. Dr. Felix Breitencker, a representative of EUROSIM and profesor of the Vienna University said: “I thank our doctorial course student Edmond Hajrizi who offered this opportunity to me to introduce myself in front of this people of science.  For me it is a special pleasure.”

 

A number of scholars from the fields listed above presented their papers during the today’s proceedings of the conference.  Young scholars from the three organizing universities — the UBT, the Vlora University, and Tirana University — as well as students and professors from the partner universities and institutions of the UBT presented their papers.
