UBT Students from the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics Win First Place in the “Stock Market Learning Competition”
17/03/2026Students from the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics at UBT have achieved an outstanding success by winning first place in the international educational competition “Stock Market Learning Competition,” organized by the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo (CBK) in cooperation with Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung für Internationale Kooperation e.V. in Kosovo (DSIK Kosovo).

This competition, which is part of the international “Stock Market Learning” program, aims to enhance students’ financial education and develop their practical knowledge about how capital markets function and the investment process.
The winning team from UBT consisted of students Harun Munishi, Olsa Fejzullahu, Ylli Ahmetxhekaj, and Erisa Shaqiri, who, through financial market analysis and strategic decision-making in a simulated environment, managed to build the most successful investment portfolio in the competition.
The competition took place from October 2025 to January 2026, during which students participated on a virtual trading platform, managing an investment portfolio with virtual funds while trading real financial instruments such as stocks, bonds, and investment funds. In this edition, 42 students from eight faculties of economics in Kosovo participated, making the competition even more challenging.
The award ceremony was held at the premises of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, in the presence of institutional and academic representatives. The event was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili; the Managing Director of Sparkassenstiftung, Mr. Niclaus Bergmann; the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kosovo, Mr. Christian Böttcher; as well as the Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, and the Dean of the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics, Dr. Muhamet Gërvalla, along with representatives from financial institutions, universities, and international partners.
The Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, thanked the organizers for this initiative, emphasizing the importance of such activities for the practical development of students in the field of finance and capital markets.
“Financial markets are highly complex systems, and there is no single mathematical model that can be copied and applied to fully understand them. Therefore, it is essential for students to learn in a practical way through initiatives like this and develop their analytical and decision-making skills. Cooperation with institutions such as the Central Bank of Kosovo and international partners creates important opportunities to advance research, innovation, and the use of technology in the study of financial markets,” said Rector Hajrizi.
This success demonstrates the dedication of UBT students and the quality of the study programs at the Faculty of Management, Business and Economics in developing practical and analytical knowledge in the fields of finance, investments, and capital markets.
UBT continues to support initiatives that connect theory with practice and prepare students for the challenges of the modern economy and global financial markets.
