
UBT hosts discussion panel at the Third Edition of the Leadership Conference – “Challenges and Opportunities in Governance”
28/04/2025As part of the third edition of the Leadership Conference, organized by the UBT Leadership Center, a key highlight was the discussion panel on the theme: “Challenges and Opportunities in Governance.”
This special panel brought together distinguished experts from diverse fields who shared their insights and experiences with the audience on improving governance processes and the challenges that developing countries face in implementing effective policies.
The panel was moderated by Prof. Assoc. Dr. Nexhat Kryeziu, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo. He emphasized the importance of effective governance for sustainable development and highlighted how such governance can enhance transparency, integrity, and citizen participation in decision-making processes.
Panel participants included Er. Pooja Agarwal, Pro-Chancellor of Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University in India; Rozafa Ukimeraj, Public Policy Expert; and Devendra Goyal, an entrepreneur in Technology and Real Estate and an MIT graduate. Each brought a rich and in-depth perspective on the challenges that developing countries face in creating and implementing effective policies.
A central topic of discussion was how developing countries can improve governance structures to address corruption, lack of transparency, and limited citizen participation. Er. Pooja Agarwal stressed that leaders should clearly communicate their vision to citizens to ensure they are actively involved in development and reform processes. She also highlighted the critical role of education in bridging development gaps and creating opportunities for future generations.
Rozafa Ukimeraj, drawing from her extensive experience in public administration, emphasized the importance of evidence-based policies for effective governance. She noted that administrative reforms and fostering a culture of accountability and transparency are essential to improving governance.
Devendra Goyal, an entrepreneur and technology expert, discussed the opportunities that technology and digitalization provide for enhancing public services and governance structures. He suggested the development of new platforms to improve transparency and citizens’ access to public information.
All panelists emphasized the importance of citizen engagement in policy-making and processes that directly affect their lives. In this context, Devendra Goyal spoke about every citizen’s responsibility to contribute to building a sustainable and fair society. He stressed the need for close collaboration between citizens and leaders to create a better future for all.
Prof. Assoc. Dr. Nexhat Kryeziu, while moderating, highlighted that building sustainable and transparent leadership requires joint effort and clear planning across all levels of governance.
The panel concluded with an optimistic message: despite existing challenges, there are significant opportunities for improving governance in Kosovo and other developing countries. Panelists agreed that progress depends on collective engagement, evidence-based policies, and innovations enabled by modern technologies.
At the end of the conference, participants received certificates of completion, recognizing their commitment to strengthening leadership and enhancing governance processes both locally and globally.
The third edition of the Leadership Conference was an outstanding success, uniting top-level experts and leaders and contributing to the advancement of governance and leadership development in Kosovo and beyond.
