Teaching and Learning

At UBT College, the Bachelor Program in Management of Real Estate and Infrastructure is delivered through a dynamic, student-centered teaching and learning approach that reflects European best practices and modern industry needs.

Learning Outcomes

The program is built around clearly defined Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) aligned with UBT’s mission and strategic goals, as well as with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the Kosovo National Qualifications Framework (NQF). These outcomes are categorized into Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies, and are designed to ensure that graduates are fully prepared to meet the demands of the real estate sector locally, regionally, and internationally.

Curriculum and Progression

Courses are structured to provide a logical learning progression from foundational concepts to advanced and specialized topics. From the first semester, students build essential legal, managerial, and research skills, gradually advancing to complex areas such as real estate valuation, financial analysis, and strategic urban development. Course sequencing ensures that pre-requisite knowledge supports the learning outcomes of subsequent modules.

Student-Centered Approach

The program emphasizes constructive alignment of learning outcomes with teaching and assessment methods. Course design ensures that all students are active participants in their learning through:

  • Case studies and simulations
  • Project-based learning
  • Research essays and legal analyses
  • Group projects and interdisciplinary reports
  • Digital tools and software applications (e.g., QGIS, AutoCAD, SPSS, Python, and Keras)

Special attention is given to study visits, guest lectures from industry professionals, and teamwork-based assignments, which provide real-world perspectives and networking opportunities.

Diversity and Inclusivity in Delivery

Teaching methods are tailored to support diverse student needs, including part-time, international, and mature students, as well as students with learning difficulties or disabilities. The use of blended learning, modular content, and alternative assessment formats ensures accessibility and flexibility.

Technology in Teaching

The program integrates modern technology into course delivery. Students engage with real estate-specific tools and platforms such as:

  • Athena Impact Estimator and OpenLCA for sustainability assessment
  • Risk Solver, SPSS, and QuickBooks for financial and valuation modeling
  • UrbanSim, ArcGIS Urban, and MATLAB Simulink for planning and infrastructure analysis
  • OpenMaint and Microsoft Project for facility and project management

Assessment and Feedback

Assessment methods are directly linked to learning outcomes and are designed to be transparent, objective, and fair. These include written exams, project simulations, presentations, and research papers. Students receive timely and constructive feedback on all assessments, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Practice-Based Learning

The program includes 12 ECTS of compulsory practice, carried out in collaboration with real estate companies and organizations. Learning outcomes for the practice component are clearly defined, and students are guided by academic mentors and professional supervisors in the field. Partner institutions include real estate firms, construction companies, and professional associations across Kosovo.

International Comparability

The curriculum and intended learning outcomes are benchmarked against leading programs in the European Higher Education Area, including:

  • University of Reading (UK)
  • Karlstad University (Sweden)
  • Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands)
  • Neapolis University (Cyprus)
  • Birmingham City University (UK)
  • Nova Univerza (Slovenia)

This ensures that graduates are well-positioned for horizontal and vertical mobility and are competitive in both European and global job markets.
