UBT, TİKA and ÇOMÜ start the joint project for the Green Transformation of Kosovo
04/02/2025An important initiative for a sustainable future has begun to take shape in Kosovo, where the Green Transformation project is being developed through close cooperation between UBT, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ).
This project aims to bring a significant change to the region by offering training opportunities for young people in a field that is essential for the future of the planet: green transformation.
Through this project, new opportunities will be created for young people from the Balkans and beyond, who will be equipped with knowledge and skills in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection. The training will focus on creating employment opportunities in sectors that will be the future engines of the economy, through workers called “green collar” who will be guided toward a greener and more sustainable world.
The organizers assess that this project is an extraordinary opportunity for young people to open new doors for their careers, promoting full equality in opportunities to engage in these processes. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening international ties and collaborations, as well as supporting the development of a future based on the principles of environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
Leading this project are the Chair of TİKA, Serkan Kayalar, the Rector of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu, and the Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, who direct this initiative under the supervision of the Coordinator of the Green Transformation at ÇOMÜ, Prof. Dr. Dilvin İpek. Meanwhile, the UBT representative, Prof. Ass. Dr. Cengiz Çesko, is also a significant contributor to the implementation of this project.
According to Professor Çesko, “this project is more than an employment opportunity; it is an important step toward a cleaner, more sustainable, and more equitable world. All those involved in this initiative are convinced that real change comes through joint commitment, and that this project is an excellent example of international cooperation aimed at helping a greener future for all.”
This international project, implemented in close cooperation between TİKA, ÇOMÜ and UBT, also creates opportunities for the development of long-term collaborations, in addition to providing academic and practical training.
