15/01/2025

Students of the Master of Agriculture and Environment at UBT, together with the professor of the subject “Advanced Vegetable Cultivation in Protected environments”, Ismet Babaj, paid a visit to two valuable farmers to the Mitrovica region, specializing in greenhouse vegetables (protected environments).

During the visit, students had the opportunity to look closely at the production of green salad, spinach and onions, which are some of the main vegetables cultivated in these protected environments. Field farmers and experts discussed with students modern cultivation technologies, as well as vegetable management under unfavorable climate conditions, including tolerance of these crops to low temperatures.

This practical meeting was aimed at increasing the capacity of students, providing them with the opportunity to exchange experiences with sector professionals. They also discussed the challenges that farmers face during the production process and the best ways to manage these difficulties.

Practical work and field visits are an important part of the professional development of agricultural students, as they contribute to enhancing their competence and confidence in the field of agriculture. Students were challenged to deal with concrete problems of production of agricultural products, as well as establishing close relationships and cooperation between the sector and UBT in order to contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture in Kosovo.
