UBT’s AI Fully Empowered Ecosystem Presented as a Role Model at the International Week at the Technical University of Sofia

UBT staff is participating in the International Week organized by the Technical University of Sofia in Bulgaria, where the latest developments in technology, artificial intelligence, innovation, and scientific research are being presented by universities and institutions from around the world.

As part of this event, UBT Rector, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, delivered a presentation entitled “UBT AI Fully Empowered Smart Sustain Society System – Case Studies from Education, Research, Innovation, Developments and Businesses”, showcasing UBT’s innovative model for integrating artificial intelligence into education, scientific research, technological development, and industry.

During his presentation, Rector Hajrizi outlined UBT’s strategic vision for building a comprehensive AI-powered ecosystem, emphasizing that UBT is the institution that has launched Europe’s first fully AI-powered ecosystem. This model integrates academic, research, administrative, and student-support processes into a single intelligent and automated platform.

He highlighted that this ecosystem provides students, staff, and institutional partners with a personalized experience, data-driven decision-making, process automation, and advanced access to digital technologies, positioning both UBT and Kosovo on the global map of innovation and high-tech development.

A special focus of the conference is also dedicated to presentations by UBT’s academic and research staff, who are contributing with advanced scientific topics in the fields of artificial intelligence, automation, intelligent networks, and emerging technologies.

Among the presentations delivered by UBT staff are:

  • “A Hybrid Graph-Coloring and Metaheuristic Framework for Resource Allocation in Dynamic E-Health Wireless Sensor Networks” by Besnik Qehaja;
  • “AI-driven Personalized Timetabling at UBT: A Hybrid ML + CP-SAT Approach for Working Students” by Naim Llumnica;
  • “AI in Automation Industry – Automating License Plate Recognition for Kosovar Vehicles: A Robust YOLOv8 and EasyOCR Pipeline” by Rigon Pira.

The broad participation of UBT staff in this event demonstrates the institution’s commitment to promoting scientific research, innovation, and international cooperation, while further strengthening the role of its professors and researchers in developing the technologies of the future.
