UBT leads the Albanian Academic region in Sustainability Impact
24/08/2026UBT has achieved a major milestone in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, emerging as the highest-ranked university among institutions from Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia included in the regional comparison.
UBT: 801–1000 globally
UBT’s overall global position has also improved compared with previous years, moving from 1001–1500 in both 2024 and 2025 to 801–1000 in 2026. This progress confirms a strengthening international sustainability profile and a growing regional position in societal impact.
UBT’s strongest sustainability performance is particularly visible in:
- SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: 50.6–55.3
- SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: 54.4–62.7
- SDG 1 – No Poverty: 56.4–62.7
UBT has also shown a clear upward trend across several SDGs compared with previous years, with notable progress in poverty reduction, health and well-being, gender equality, clean water, clean energy, and decent work.
With an overall THE Impact score of 53.7–60.6, UBT stands at the forefront of the institutions represented from Kosovo, Albania, and North Macedonia.
This achievement goes beyond a ranking position. It reflects the growing impact of UBT’s research, education, institutional policies, community engagement, and commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
