International Strategy

UBT Internationalization Strategy is shaped and informed by the rapid globalization and worldwide interconnectedness within which higher education institutions operate. We consider internationalization a core theme cross-cutting all of our activities and we reflect it as such across all the strategic objectives of our College Strategy.

UBT’s Internationalisation Strategy supports the mission and vision of advancing knowledge and transforming lives through high quality education and research. Building on our previous strategy, we aim at sharpening the international focus and strengths in research, enhancing learning and knowledge exchange, identifying and making the most of emerging international opportunities; communicating effectively internally and externally about the range of our international activity; and continuously improving the way in which we go about the range of our international work.

We are already a strong, internationally engaged and respected Institution and that is why we have set ourselves a broad-ranging and ambitious goal that will build on the already-existing strengths. Yet, this requires strong commitment, engagement and ingenuity. Therefore, our Internationalization Strategy sets out six goals that will enable us to continue being a leading global institution, enhanced by high-value partnerships, with global reach in education and research that leads to real-world impact.

Key strategic opportunities that we will seek to deliver are:

A commitment to developing international opportunities both ‘at College’ and across the world to create a truly connected and culturally responsive institution.

  • A commitment to embed international themes, including sustainability and global citizenship, across all of our programme curricula, teaching, research and innovation.
  • A commitment to offer all students the opportunity to have an international experience.
  • A commitment to the quality and alignment with our mission, vision and values of all existing and potential international activities over quantity and financial drivers.
  • A focus on developing our international footprint through partnerships and/or student recruitment in key areas, specifically Western Balkan Area and European Area.
  • A recognition that world-class colleges, by their very nature, are international in scope, reach and impact and that ensuring the highest quality of our international activities and connections is paramount.
