UBT Advances the Development of the Academic Integrity Framework Through the SINCERE Project
30/10/2026On 30 October 2026, UBT organized a workshop with the participation of deans, focusing on the development and implementation of the Academic Integrity Framework within the framework of the SINCERE – Strengthening Integrity and Ethical Culture in Regional Higher Education project.
The workshop provided an opportunity to discuss the role of academic leadership in strengthening institutional approaches to academic integrity and in ensuring that ethical principles are consistently reflected in teaching, assessment, research, and academic decision-making.
During the session, participants discussed key elements of the Academic Integrity Framework, including institutional responsibilities, procedures for preventing and addressing academic misconduct, the role of faculties in promoting ethical academic practices, and the importance of clear and transparent mechanisms for supporting academic integrity across the university.
Particular attention was given to current challenges related to plagiarism, the responsible use of academic sources, emerging forms of academic misconduct, and the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence in higher education. The discussion highlighted the need for institutions to combine clear policies and procedures with awareness-raising, staff capacity building, and appropriate digital tools.
The workshop also emphasized the important role of deans in supporting the implementation of the Academic Integrity Framework at faculty level, encouraging consistency across academic units and contributing to the development of a strong institutional culture based on responsibility, transparency, fairness, and ethical conduct.
Through an interactive exchange of views, participants had the opportunity to identify practical challenges, share experiences, and provide input that can contribute to the further development of the framework and its implementation within UBT.
The activity forms part of the broader objectives of the SINCERE project, which aims to strengthen academic integrity and ethical culture in higher education institutions through the development of institutional frameworks, capacity-building activities, digital solutions, and enhanced cooperation among partner institutions.
Through initiatives such as this workshop, UBT continues to support the development of clear institutional standards and sustainable mechanisms that promote academic integrity and responsible academic practice throughout the university community.
