25/09/2025

The Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, together with Prof. Dr. Besnik Qehaja, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, and the UBT team, are participating in the closing event of the IoT-ECO project, part of the Erasmus-LS, ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE program, taking place at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria.

This international project aims to develop innovative models for the Internet of Things (IoT) in the field of the green economy, bringing together experts and academics from various universities in the region and across Europe.

During this event, the first real model of the Digital Twin Smart City Campus at UBT was presented—an innovative solution developed on Smart City infrastructure and advanced technologies by the UBT team. This digital model functions as a virtual reflection of the campus and the city, enabling real-time interaction.

This technology enhances interaction and the ability to respond quickly to situations, while also contributing to the improvement of quality of life, efficiency, and safety.

Rector Hajrizi also presented the UBT Hub, emphasizing the university’s contributions and advancements in integrating IoT into both academic and industrial environments. He discussed the importance of developing digital infrastructure and fostering international collaborations to strengthen innovation and technological education in Kosovo, with a particular focus on innovative models developed and implemented in IoT, artificial intelligence, smart cities, smart education, healthcare, and more.

The event program includes presentations on virtual IoT models, cloud integration, practical applications in industry, as well as cybersecurity challenges in modern intelligent networks. Beyond the academic aspect, the activity also offers cultural visits and tours in Sofia, creating space for experience sharing and international networking.
