Students of the Master Program “Urban Planning and Sustainable Development” at UBT made a special study visit to the Lura Agrotourism Complex in Novo Brdo, exploring the role and potential of agrotourism in economic development and rural sustainability.

This visit took place in the framework of the subject “Urban suburbs and rural areas as economic ecosystems”, a platform that inspires students to link theory to practice through concrete examples.

Welcome by the owner, Gani Buca, and the director, Genc Buca-a former UBT student, students were introduced to the history, activities and philosophy of this agrotourism complex. With passion and professionalism, they shared their experience on managing such an innovative business and its impact on the local community.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to look closely at the processes of producing and processing raw materials, preparation of traditional foods, and exploring the complex gallery, guest homes and playgrounds. This complex illustrates perfectly how a rural business can interpret the tradition and innovation to create a sustainable economic ecosystem.

A special moment was to emphasize the involvement of local manufacturers in this initiative, telling students how agrotourism can be a development engine for the surrounding community. Moreover, students took a study walk in the area to identify new opportunities for agrotourism development and to make concrete recommendations for future projects.

Through these experiences, students not only acquire advanced competences and skills, but also become an active part of positive community changes. Agrotourism, as a sector that carries great potential for Kosovo’s economic development, represents an important area where UBT students will contribute to building a greener, more sustainable and prosperous future for the country.
