UBT Rector Hajrizi and the Mayor of Peja Municipality Muhaxheri have discussed about the applying of the concept “Smart City Kosova”

The Rector of UBT, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, and the Director of UBT Center for Urban Studies, Albrim Ahmeti, were hosted by the Mayor of Peja, Gazmend Muhaxheri, and the Director of the Directorate for Urbanism and Protection. Environmentalists, Rajan Arapi, who have widely discussed about applying the concept of “Smart City Kosova”.

 

Furthermore, this concept is related to sustainable urban development, as well as the Urban Sustainability Index, projects which, with the support of UBT, are expected to start soon in this municipality.Smart City Kosova is a project involving five world universities, UBT in Kosovo, TU Vienna in Austria, ETG in Zurich, Switzerland, Hafen City in Germany, and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts in Turkey, which are comprised of over 20 experts from academia and partner institutions. Moreover, this project aims to set up strategies for smart cities, with innovative approaches to local urban problems.

 

Meanwhile, the Urban Sustainability Index is an instrument that allows planners to measure the socio-economic and environmental impact of current urban models, infrastructure, etc. Obviously, these two projects, initiated by UBT, specifically by the Center for Urban Studies, are expected to be implemented in the municipalities of Prishtina, Gjilan, Prizren, Lipjan and Vushtrri.
