UBT Ranked the Leading Private University in the Albanian-Speaking Academic Region
22/07/2026UBT has been ranked as the highest-positioned private university in the Albanian-speaking academic region in the OpenAlex Transparent Ranking of Universities, July 2026 edition.
With a global rank of 4,768 out of 17400 higher education institutions, UBT recorded:
- 24 publications among the world’s top 1% most cited papers
- 222 publications among the world’s top 10% most cited papers
In a combined comparison of universities from Kosovo and Albania, together with selected Albanian-speaking institutions in North Macedonia, UBT ranks fourth overall and first among private universities.
This achievement places UBT at the forefront of private higher education across the Albanian-speaking academic region and reflects its growing international research visibility, scientific impact, and commitment to innovation and academic excellence.
The ranking is based on OpenAlex data for the 2021–2025 period and evaluates universities according to the number of publications included among the world’s top 1% and top 10% most cited papers.
