
UBT Ranked First in Kosova and Among the Best Universities in the Region by THE Impact Rankings 2025
23/06/2025UBT has once again demonstrated its commitment to quality and sustainable development by ranking among the best universities in the region according to the THE Impact Rankings 2025 – the global ranking that measures university performance in fulfilling the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UBT stands far ahead of all other universities in Kosova, showcasing its continuous dedication to making a real impact on society, the economy, and the environment. In this edition of the rankings, UBT has shown significant progress compared to previous years, particularly in several key areas of global sustainability such as:
SDG 5 – Gender Equality: With active policies promoting inclusion, equality, and the empowerment of women in education and management.
SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: Through the development of innovation and technology ecosystems, as well as advanced research infrastructure.
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: With numerous projects focused on planning and building smart, resilient, and environmentally friendly campuses.
SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: By integrating circular economy principles into education and institutional practices.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings evaluate and rank universities worldwide based on their contributions to promoting and implementing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This global ranking focuses on the social and environmental impact of a university through teaching, research, community engagement, and internal policies — going beyond traditional academic and scientific activities.
Among others, institutions are also assessed on SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Other SDGs include health, innovation, and sustainable cities. These rankings promote transparency and encourage universities to align their work with global challenges, emphasizing their role in advancing sustainable development.
