05/03/2025

As part of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Infrastructure and the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning, UBT celebrated World Engineers’ Day with an important academic event attended by UBT Rector Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, deans, professors, and students.

During the event, the significance of engineering in social and economic development was highlighted, along with the outstanding contribution of professionals in advancing technology and infrastructure. In this context, UBT presented recognitions to professors Nebi Pllana, Naser Kamberi, and Muhamet Avdyli, honoring their exceptional commitment to education and science.

In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi described this day as a special moment for the academic and professional community:

“This is a positive day for us, because engineering has always been and remains one of the most important fields for development. Creating and building something that does not yet exist is the essence of human progress. UBT offers all branches of engineering, and we have established several programs for the first time in Kosova, with the largest number of students in this field. Kosova needs more engineers, especially to attract foreign investment. We have worked to raise the importance of engineering and have succeeded in joining numerous international organizations and federations,” said Rector Hajrizi.

Professor Nebi Pllana, who was honored for his valuable contribution to educating and training new professionals, emphasized the challenges and efforts over the years:

“You have provided us with everything needed to develop new professional cadres. We have faced many challenges and obstacles, but we have made a significant contribution in forming specialists in the field. I sincerely thank you and will continue to give my maximum contribution in every circumstance,” said Professor Pllana.

Recognition was also given to Professor Naser Kamberi, who has made an exceptional contribution to molecular biology and genetics, as well as to Professor Muhamet Avdyli, a key figure in IT and former head of the Information Systems Department at UBT.

This event not only marked World Engineers’ Day but also highlighted the importance of investing in the education and development of new generations of engineers, who will be the main pillars of innovation and progress in Kosova.
