UBT Hosts International Cybersecurity Workshop within the SHIELD Project
31/01/2026UBT hosted an international workshop on curriculum development in the field of cybersecurity, held on January 27–28. The workshop was organized as part of the SHIELD project – United for Cyber Safety: Up-Skilling High School Communities for Protecting Students, supported by Erasmus+.

The project is coordinated by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, with partners including University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Sofia, UBT, and Ekonomikas un Kultūras Augstskola in Latvia. Its primary goal is to empower high school communities by developing skills and knowledge in cybersecurity, with a focus on protecting students and promoting the safe use of technology.
The opening of the workshop featured UBT Rector, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, who highlighted UBT’s continuous investment in academic capacity building and the establishment of dedicated departments in cybersecurity and advanced technologies. He emphasized that these areas are vital for the future of education and digital society.
The workshop agenda included sessions on analyzing educational needs, defining the scope of cybersecurity training, structuring the curriculum and learning outcomes, and designing inclusive and accessible training. Discussions also covered training delivery formats, teaching materials, digital tools, as well as planning pilot testing and curriculum implementation.
This workshop represents a significant step toward linking professional education with current digital security challenges, strengthening international collaboration, and reinforcing UBT’s role as a leading institution in developing innovative programs tailored to the real needs of society.
