The Project for the Construction of the Largest Science, Technology and Innovation Center in Kosovo, “UBT Smart City,” Comes to Life

With an area of approximately 28,000 square meters, at UBT’s Innovative Campus in Lipjan, the Science, Technology and Innovation Center, known as “UBT Smart City,” is being realized. It will be the first center of its kind in Kosovo and will enable the growth of employment, entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable development in the country.

The Science, Technology and Innovation Center will be located within UBT’s Science and Technology Park, where scientific development will take place, experiments will be conducted, and innovative products will be developed. With the construction of this facility—the sixth within UBT’s Innovative Campus—the innovative ecosystem is being completed. By incorporating smart technologies, this space meets the criteria of a Smart City and, as such, represents the most unique center in the Western Balkans.

With a distinctive architecture based on high standards and the implementation of future-oriented technologies, this center will, among other things, include spaces for practical work, laboratories, a dormitory, a library, a kitchen, an incubator, small industries, spaces for new businesses, creative centers, sports facilities, and all other elements necessary to complete an innovative ecosystem.

Despite the challenges and the impact of COVID-19, UBT continues to remain committed to its strategies and vision. This entire investment has been made and continues to be made with the aim of contributing to quality education, increasing employment, developing new innovative enterprises and businesses, as well as enhancing human capacities in line with labor market demands, future competencies, public policies, and the overall sustainable development of Kosovo.
