Rector Hajrizi Presents UBT’s Vision for the Cities of the Future Through the UBT 5S Model at Smart Life Week 2026
09/10/2026UBT Rector, Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, during his stay in Seoul, South Korea, as part of the international exhibition Smart Life Week 2026, held meetings and engaged in discussions with participants and representatives of various institutions and organizations. They exchanged ideas and perspectives on the development of smart cities, robotics, innovation, and opportunities for future cooperation.
During these meetings and exchanges, Rector Hajrizi shared UBT’s vision and experience in smart city development, highlighting the UBT 5S model – Small Scale Smart Self-Sustained System, developed by him and physically implemented through UBT Smart City.
The UBT 5S model represents a practical approach to developing intelligent and sustainable systems, in which technology, innovation, education, and scientific research are integrated to create solutions applicable to everyday life. Through UBT Smart City, this vision takes physical form, providing a real-world environment where smart city concepts are implemented in practice and serve as a foundation for developing new models of living.
UBT Smart City represents an innovative model designed to demonstrate how technology and smart solutions can be integrated into a unified ecosystem, focusing on human well-being, efficient resource utilization, sustainability, and the development of modern services. In this context, the UBT 5S model is being conceived as a new model for future living, in which a city is viewed not merely as a physical space, but as an integrated system connecting people, knowledge, technology, and the environment.
During the exhibition, Rector Hajrizi received invitations from various participants to visit their institutions and present the model he developed. To date, this model has been presented at more than 100 academic and professional events worldwide.
In addition to exchanging experiences and ideas, the meetings held during the exhibition also provided opportunities for formal discussions on prospects for international cooperation, the exchange of expertise, and the identification of areas of mutual interest. These contacts lay the groundwork for exploring future cooperation opportunities, particularly in technology, innovation, scientific research, and smart city development.
For UBT, the UBT 5S model and its physical implementation through UBT Smart City demonstrate the institution’s commitment to applied innovation, connecting academic vision with practical solutions and creating opportunities for new partnerships that can contribute to the development of future cities and new models of living.
