At UBT took place the conference regarding the performance and energy efficiency
02/03/2020The conference on “EPS Energy Performance Contracting & ESCO within the European Context of Energy Efficiency” was held at the UBT Innovation Campus in Lipjan. On this occasion, there were brought together many experts, professors, students and representatives of organizations related to the respective field.
On behalf of this conference, there were widely discussed issues regarding the organization of energy efficiency financing, while talking about EPS involving an energy service company, ESCO, which provides various services, such as finances and guaranteed energy efficiency.The conference was opened by UBT Rector Prof. Dr. Edmond Hajrizi, who said that Kosovo and the region more than ever need energy professionals. In this regard, UBT Rector Hajrizi emphasized that the institution he heads is the only one that has accredited programs for Efficient Energy and for Electricity and Energy Markets.
“UBT has accredited programs and is recruiting staff who are able to manage new energy markets in line with the social needs of this profile. Students in this institution receive quality education in this area, but these students have a job market perspective. We are working to build a new campus with energy efficient, we have already got the 5G platform, which together with this we will create the SMART system. Indeed, this is the underlying goal of UBT and we are working hard in this direction”, noted Hajrizi.
Meanwhile, Maliq Pireci from the Organization for International Cooperation “GIZ”, said that this organization supports the energy sector in Kosovo, with a focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency and will continue to support this sector in the future.
“GIZ has supported a new policy that focuses at the level of the Government of Kosovo on the creation of regulations and law on the implementation of energy efficiency and energy efficiency, a project that other organizations support,” claimed he.
Furthermore, the director of the Belgian association “ESCO”, Lieven Vanstraelen, emphasized that public-private cooperation should be stimulated, whereas ESCO shall be used as a means of financing in this sector.
Moreover, “Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) is a mechanism for organizing energy efficiency financing. EPC includes an Energy Service Company (ESCO) which provides various services, such as finances and guaranteed energy savings. The ESCO success heavily relies on the achievement of the guaranteed savings. ESCO remains involved in the process of measuring and verifying energy savings in the repayment period” he stated.
