AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

 

 

The general objective of the program is to promote contemporary perspectives in public policy and public management in all their facets through a modern learning, teaching and learning approaches. The program addresses how public policy is made, implemented and evaluated, and the key issues of managing public services. Its focus is especially on how policy processes and the delivery of services are linked.  The aim of the curricula is to : (1) prepare highly qualified specialists in public policy and public management for Kosovan civil service, non-governmental sector and international development sector based in Kosovo, (2) prepare public managers with strategic management as well as policy-making skills in order to be able to manage public management and non-governmental sectors; (3) prepare students capable of identifying and formulating speciality-related problems, developing viable research topics, and reaching scientifically proved conclusions by using appropriate research methods, (4) prepare students with the ability to independently carry out policy-research and analysis at NGO, international or local development agencies.

 

Program Learning Outcomes

 

On completion of the programme, the student will be able to:

  • apply critically the main theories, models and concepts used in the study of public policy, public management and analysis of the impact of international organizations, including the EU, on domestic policy and policy making
  • demonstrate understanding of the main debates in the academic literature concerning public policy, public management and the impact of international organizations on domestic policy and policy making
  • demonstrate substantive knowledge of national policy processes and policies in key policy domains, theory and research in public management, and how international organizations affect domestic policy and policy-making processes
  • Undertake independent research projects
  • Apply critically the main theories, models and concepts used in the study of public policy and public management as well as regulation
  • Demonstrate understanding of the main debates in the academic literature concerning pubic policy, public management and regulation
  • Demonstrate substantive knowledge of national policy processes and policy in key domains, theory and research in public management and creation of powers and impact of regulatory authorities
